What should I consider when buying wallpaper?

First, you should think about what claims you have on the wallpaper, Should it be paintable (woodchip, nonwoven), should they be breathable (paper wallpaper), Should it be possible by wiping or abrasion resistant (vinyl) or should it bridge slight reduction plans (non-woven wallpaper, glass fiber), etc.

What is my background from, should you fill at a smooth wallpaper. Then what the wallpaper should fit to. For which room it should be, how do my furishings look like, has it to be something with patterns or without?

Do I want a wallpaper (non-woven wallpaper) that is easy to attach? Then you should definitely make sure that the production numbers of the individual roles match. That the needed numbers of wallpapers fit, because if you reorder, the same production number can’t be get no longer.

How many rolls of wallpaper do I need? - calculation method

To calculate the wallpaper needs, it is firstly required the height and the extent of the room. If you take the height of the room times the extent of the room and divides this by 5, you get a rough indication of the needed rolls of wallpaper, with a free match wallpaper (without pattern).

With a wallpaper with pattern (rapport), the offset must be stuck with dividing by 4 because more waste is incurred. The euro-roll measure of a wallpaper is 10.05 x 0.53 m. In a normal ceiling height of 2.50m you get with a free wallpaper approach (a wallpaper without pattern, rapport) 4 strips from a role.

A wallpaper with pattern (rapport) or higher rooms you get usually only 3 strips from a role. You should already take enough waste into accpunt, especially with large pattern-rapports. The resulting residual pieces of the wallpaper rolls can optionally be used on the doors and or possibly even under the windows. It is also advantageous if you put a reserve role on the side, just in case the blind box must be opened or in the case that you would like to touch up some times.

What exactly should I consider in the room where I would like to wallpaper?

In the room, make sure that the old wallpaper is completely removed. It should be a clean, dry, smooth, suck- and viable subsoil. If necessary, you need to fill and prime the walls.

Newly plastered walls or plasterboard, fermacell, drywalls need to be primed necessarily before the first covering with a solvent-free primer, so that the wallpaper stays well and so that you can remove it easily and stripe for stripe later.

Walls where before wallpapering if filling, priming and treat with Deep Primer.
If you want to process a non-woven wallpaper it's important to have a same colored backgound, because wallpapers are often translucent. There are special primers that are colored white and thus ensure a uniform surface.

Which paste is the right one?

For each type of wallpaper there is a suitable glue that is specifically matched to the needs of the wallpaper.

There is glue for paper-wallpaper, woodchip, vinyl-, structure-, textile-, fabric-, non-woven wallpaper, etc. There are also paste for different adhesive techniques such as wallpaper-machine pastings for wallpaper paste machines, or a roll adhesive, this you can apply directly with a roller or brush on the wall.

A roll adhesive e.g. is recommended with a non-woven wallpaper, because you don’t have to consider soaking time at a non-woven wallpaper. Also you should note the slip of paper of the wallpaper roll, here are often information about the matching paste.

What tools do I need?

For wallpapering you need a brush (block brush) for pasting or a paste machine or a paint roller in paste job directly on the wall, a bucket, a trestle table, a ladder or a buck, a pair of scissors, a craft knife, a wallpapering brush with woodchip or paper-wallpaper or a pressure roll of plastic or foam rubber suitable for all types of wallpaper, a seam roller to process specifically the wallpaper seams, a spatula suitable for hard wearing surfaces such as painter non-woven, fiberglass or non-woven wallpaper, a plumb or a water balance to align the first wallpaper strip, a pencil, a ruler or a tape for measuring, a wallpapering tear off ruler for cutting strips of wallpaper directly on the wall or on the trestle table or a cutting-edge rail, with this you make the exact completion on the wall.
